The E15 E5-575-33BM is a better machine, in my opinion. The backlit keyboard is a definite plus. As far as the installed HDD capacity, this machine has more at 1TB, but the HDD cards in both are best suited for file storage. Both of these laptops desperately need the upgrade to an SSD hard drive and the adjustments to clone the HDD drive to the SSD and make the SSD boot first. The difference is outrageous. And this machine’s 2GB card in the extra memory slot is actually counterproductive; the slots’ performance is optimized when you have them “mirrored” (identical quantities in each slot). Essentially, 2 – 2GB cards would perform better than 1 – 4GB card and an empty slot. So the 2GB card should either be removed or replaced with a matching 4GB card.
This machine uses DDR3l memory; less capability the DDR4 of the 7th gen.
Acer Aspire E 15 E5-576-392H comes with these high level specs: 8th Generation Intel Core i3-8130U Processor 2.2GHz with Turbo Boost Technology up to 3.4GHz, Windows 10 Home, 15.6″ Full HD (1920 x 1080) widescreen LED-backlit display, Intel UHD Graphics 620, 6GB Dual Channel Memory, 8X DVD Double-Layer Drive RW (M-DISC enabled), Secure Digital (SD) card reader, Acer True Harmony, Two Built-in Stereo Speakers, 802.11ac Wi-Fi featuring MU-MIMO technology (Dual-Band 2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.1, HD Webcam (1280 x 720) supporting High Dynamic Range (HDR), 1 – USB 3.1 Type C Gen 1 port (up to 5 Gbps), 2 – USB 3.0 ports (one with power-off charging), 1 – USB 2.0 port, 1 – HDMI Port with HDCP support, , Up to 13.5-hours Battery Life, 5.27 lbs.
1. The screen isn’t the best, but it is acceptable. Doesn’t compare to my i7, 4k touchscreen laptop, but it’s also about $800 cheaper.
2. The 1tb HDD is very slow, only 5400 RPM (really common on laptops without an SSD).
3. The memory installed is a single 4gb and a second 2gb module, so no dual channel. Really, under 8 gig of memory, just say no.
When using the on CPU graphics, this is a serious handicap (not dual channel).
Built in DVD drive. Probably not important to a lot of people nowdays, but a plus still.
Latest gen CPU from Intel, the i3 may be pretty mediocre, but if you are comparing it to a machine 3 years old, you’ll be VERY happy.
VERY easy access (3 small phillips head screws) to upgrade memory, hard drive, and an empty M.2 slot for an SSD (screw & standoff included).

I could not be more happy, especially given the very reasonable price. I experience no slowness at all, and I am very picky and impatient with a boggy computer. I will likely add RAM, but honestly even with M$ Word, Excel, and a dozen browser windows open it runs just fine. No, it is not an Intel i7 processor with 32 Gb of RAM and no solid state drive, but it was only $253 delivered, so I have absolutely no complaints.
Well, one grump. It is really put together in a somewhat tamper-proof way. Swapping out the hard drive for a SSD and adding more RAM will take some effort to be sure, instead of 5 minutes for my previous laptop. I may wait until the warranty expires before doing it, because opening up this baby will definitely void any warranty, but frankly as an IT professional with decades of experience, I have deployed literally thousands of Dell workstations, laptops, and servers, and I could count the number of warranty issues on the fingers of one hand! If you are on the fence about this I hope my review helps. Of course I can’t guarantee your experience will be the same as mine, but I would be truly surprised if you follow the steps I have outlined above when you first get the laptop.
You can to weigh up the pros and cons before you decide whether to take the laptop.
