Best Sump Pump

Zoeller M53 Mighty-mate Submersible Sump Pump, 1/3 Hp

I built my house about two years ago on top of what apparently is a natural spring that produces more water than the entire nation of Guam. Seriously, it seems to do better than my well. Constantly filled up my sump, and the humidity of my basement was super high. As an added plus, my water is really high in salt. I could take a bunch of lobsters and throw them in my sump and eat like a king for years to come. They would live and breed, develop their own tunnel system, own culture, maybe worship me as their god….who knows. Anyway, the water is awful. I had a Harbor Freight pump I bought in a pinch, and that sucked lasted a whole month before it couldn’t take it anymore. It would have gone out for a pack of smokes and not come back if it could have, but since it couldn’t, it just froze up and died. Not a good death either. Think about it, it was basically running on a treadmill for 12 hours a day in a salty pit of horrors for a month.
It was more than I wanted to spend, but I had a big problem on my hands, so I had a few beers and bought it. Not a single regret. This thing has been a complete champ. It runs around 10-12 hours a day and that has been for a little over a year. Nonstop. In fact, the reason I decided to finally write this review is because it stopped working. I was prepared to get all pissed off and order another one….and to my surprise, the thing had sucked up a bunch of rocks and clogged the hose. I cleared it out and it is running perfectly again. Unbelievable. I poured a beer in my sump because I figured the little guy deserved one, and now here I am writing this. Highly recommend.

WAYNE CDU980E Sump Pump

There is no question that this is a great pump! Quiet, pump water quick, and it’s easy to install. No need for me to go over this, just read the other reviews!!! HOWEVER, DO NOT over do the size by replacing an existing pump that have lower HP with this – unless your existing pump does not have enough power. Especially if you have other drain connecting to the same pipping as the pump. I replaced an old 1/4 HP pump (see attached photo, at lease 20+ years old!) with this 3/4 HP Wayne, and thinking what can go wrong! I come home during our first major rain under the pump. Went outside to check. I notice that the pump blow water thru the pipping systems so hard that some of the water get push back up to the other pipping connections. Some of the PVC cover went flying all over. Luckily there’s no damage. I happen to need to replace another pump (also 1/3 HP) in the back of the house. That one is a pump only connection. I’ll be moving this baby over and get another 1/3 HP Wayne for this location. I still give this pump a 5 stars!!!

Superior Pump 92341 Side Discharge

The original sump pump was a cheap, sad, worn-out pedestal pump that was unsupported and fell over a lot. So we figured a nice submersible pump was a better choice. Note that submersible pumps need deeper sumps than most pedestal pumps. We had to dig our sump deeper, which was great fun what with rocks and little room to work in. But we got it done and it works great.

The float is adjustable only from side-to-side, so you can adjust how far it sits from the pump. It is not adjustable for water level, as the float must travel to the top of the rod to trigger the switch. It is easy to repair and parts are easily available.

The Superior Pump 1/3 hp submersible sump pump will move up to 46 gallon of water per minute. This pump features rugged cast iron construction and includes an adjustable vertical float switch with piggy back plug to automatically turn the pump on/off.
